How we pick our Products

It is a work of love and hard yakker by all the team at City Organics to bring to Hobart and to you the safest and the best and fairest products available in Tasmania , Australia and the world.

We seek out producers and companies that are both ethical and passionate about their products and/or who also give back in some way. We do our best to vet all our products for safety and quality. so that in our store you don't need to analyse the labels to check out if there are any nasties. We already have done it. Very occasionally some products with dodgy ingredients may slip through the net, but once discovered we make every effort to investigate and if necessary to stop stocking the product. It is not an easy task, but these days with so many producers jumping on the lucrative bandwagon by advertising their products as natural, organic and safe when they are not, so we take our job seriously.

Unfortunately truth in labeling in personal care items is not fully legislated as yet, so producers only need declare a fair percentage of actual ingredients on their labels. That is why we are so careful with the products we stock, such as cosmetics and skincare and ask manufacturers for complete ingredient lists and/or run products through data bases to check them out before stocking them at City Organics. We all do our best for you and appreciate the support we have and continue to receive from our customers.


Customer Awards

City Organics has just been announced as the winners for the category of  Business Excellence for the 2008 Hobart Exceptional Customer Service Awards.
The presentation was made at the Hobart Town Hall on the 2nd October 2008

The awards for all categories received some 4700 nominations. The process was as follows.
  • Nominations for the award by customers of City Organics
  • Acceptance forms with various questions to be answered completed and received for judging & scoring
  • Shortlisted nominees then eligible for the next stage of judging, being mystery shopped
  • Mystery shopped nominees were scored
  • Shortlisted nominees after the mystery shop were the qualifying finalists
  • Each finalist was required to attend an interview with a panel of judges that was also scored
  • One finalist was chosen as a winner in each of the six categories:
    • Individual – Retail, Hospitality, Service
    • Business – Retail, Hospitality, Service.
  • The Business Excellence Award was open to businesses 1 to 10 staff operating in either the Retail, Hospitality or Service sectors
  • Only finalists from the business categories were eligible for this award
We were both thrilled to receive this award on behalf of our great team at City Organics who exemplify the qualities of excellent customer service.

Co Card

We have started a membership system at City Organics. As a member this system will allow you to will receive member prices when you present your card. The member prices apply to some products and the discounts vary. For example we may have Bananas and Avocados on special one month and you will find that other products have a member price permanently attached to their price tag. You can give the staff your details at the counter to get a card.
