Our customers would love some home-grown Lemons!
If anyone has excess lemons they could bring in to City Organics that would be grand. Looking for clean-looking lemons that have had no inorganic pesticides or other nasties. Here we are the shop with a lemon as a logo and no Lemons!
We are also interested in other home grown produce where we have gaps Or to provide another local choice such as tomatoes.

But what are they and what’s in them? I asked the same thing.
They are tennis ball size PVC balls( soon to be changed to PET recyclable plastic) that contain small mineralised pellets (no, these aren’t magnetic). You may have heard of hard water and soft water. The minerals in the pellets alter the pH of the water to make it softer which softens the fabric (no need to use fabric softener either!) and this makes it easier for the movement of the water to remove dirt.

Miracle Wash pellets were tested by Lanfax Laboratories NSW (April 2006). Tests were conducted for both top loading & front loading washine machines.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK: To help deal with the reality of Summer warmth disappearing & to warm the tummy & heart...
RED LENTIL SOUP / DAHL
KEY: GF=gluten free O=organic Ve=vegan
Red Lentil Soup - Dahl (GF, O, Ve)

Ingredients List
- 1C Split Red Lentils
- Water
- Pinch of powdered Turmeric or 1/2cm fresh grated turmeric
- 2-3 Tbsp of grated ginger (a porcelain grater work well)
- 1/2 med onion - chopped fine
- 1-2 Tbsp olive oil
- Salt to season (macrobiotic salt - wet sea salt is best option)
- Coriander chopped to garnish

Method
- Rinse red lentils & drain
- Add at least 4 times the volume of water to start, add more if too thick.
- Add turmeric & ginger
- Bring to boil then simmer til lentils are soft (approx 20 min)
- Towards end of cooking - saute onion in olive oil
- Add onion and salt at end and simmer a few more minutes
Serve with your choice of Rice, bread, steamed veg, oven baked potato chips, and/or flat bread.
