  • If you are looking for a natural nail polish or an organic nail polish then this is the product for you. Suncoat’s award winning Water-Based Nail Polish is the cleanest nail polish available today. An innovative product, it is long-lasting and quick-drying. All chemical solvents have been replaced by water, the major ingredient. When Suncoat Water-Based Nail Polish is being applied, only water evaporates into the air, not toxic chemical fumes.

    Suncoat Water-Based Nail Polish contains:

    Conventional Nail Polish

Conventional nail polishes are a chemical cocktail of toxic ingredients. They contain large amounts of chemical solvents such as toluene, acetates, acetones and alcohol. Many also contain phthalates, such as dibutyl phthalate (DBP), which has been proven by research studies to interfere with normal hormone balance, and can cause severe birth defects and other health problems. Formaldehyde is usually found in conventional nail polish which has now been reported to be carcinogenic. Parabens can also be found in conventional nail polish yet some studies are now linking parabens with breast cancer. As well, FD & C Dyes are commonly used to colour nail polish even though many have been reported to be carcinogenic or suspected as being carcinogenic.

Tolene and Formaldehyde -Free Nail Polish

Some companies have taken toluene and formaldehyde out of their nail polish to claim a safer product. Unfortunately the nail polish is still full of chemical solvents and not the best option for someone looking for the cleanest nail polish available. The chart below shows why Suncoat Water-Based Nail Polish is a better choice.

Why is Water-Based Nail Polish so much better?

Suncoat’s water-based nail polish is the cleanest and safest nail polish available today. The reason why a 100% natural nail polish does not exist is because the product does not stay on nails. Suncoat has removed all chemical solvents and hazardous ingredients including formaldehyde, toluene, parabens and phthalates and replaced them with water (the major ingredient). This has created the best product for those that want to wear nail polish but want an alternative to conventional chemical-laden nail polish.

    Ingredients

Aqua (water), acrylate copolymer, styrene-acrylate copolymer, glycol ether, benzoate ester. Mineral pigments +/-: mica, iron oxide, titanium dioxide, ultramarine blue, chromium oxide, ferric ferrocyanide, carmine.

    Environmentally Friendly

Conventional nail polish contains large amounts (typically around 70%) of chemical solvents such as toluene, acetates and alcohol. When nail polish is applied to nails, these solvents evaporate into the air, generating toxic chemical fumes; the well known and VERY offensive "chemical smell". This is why many people find it hard to breathe when using conventional nail polish: you are surrounding yourself with heavily polluted air, inhaling chemical solvents (toluene, acetates etc).

With Suncoat Water-Based Nail Polish, all the chemical solvents have been replaced by water. So when Suncoat Water-Based Nail Polish is being applied, only water evaporates into the air, not toxic chemical fumes.

    Safer for Nails

The chemical solvents in conventional nail polish, after repeated use, can discolour nails and make them brittle and weak. This is not an issue with Suncoat Water-Based Nail Polish.

    Not a Safety Hazard

Since conventional nail polishes contain around 70% chemical solvents, they are highly flammable and explosive and often classified as dangerous goods. They are safety hazards for retail stores, salons and residential homes. They should be kept away from heat, including open flames such as burning candles, etc.

Suncoat Water-Based Nail Polish, on the other hand, is not considered dangerous goods, and is much safer for in-store, salon and home use.

    No Phthalates of Any Kind

Many conventional nail polishes contain a deadly chemical, namely, phthalate. Phthalate, such as dibutyl phthalate (DBP), has been proven by research studies to interfere with normal hormone balance, can cause severe birth defects and other health problems. Phthalate is a very effective and popular plasticizer that gives nail polish flexibility, and helps prevent polish from cracking. Phthalate is also a very low volatile chemical (meaning will not evaporate quickly). So after the polish is applied to nails, phthalate will stay on the nails with the polish, and can penetrate into our system, causing health problems. Suncoat Water-Based Nail Polish is phthalate-free.

    Formaldehyde -free

Many conventional nail polishes have formaldehyde-releasing ingredients, used in preserving the formulation. Formaldehyde has been reported as a carcinogenic chemical. Suncoat WaterBased Nail Polish is formaldehyde-free

    Application Tips

    Preparation

When using Suncoat Water-Based Nail Polish, make sure your nails are dry and free of grease, skin lotion, and dirt. Wash hand thoroughly with soap and water. Grain alcohol can also be used to clean the nails (oil and skin lotion repel water-based polish, so will significantly affect polish wearability).

    Application

Apply thin coats to avoid streaking. Brush on lightly and evenly. At least 2 coats, or more, are needed for a long lasting effect. Apply Suncoat Clear Top Coat for greater resistance to chipping (can last 2 to 3 days longer). Polish may look streaky when wet and just applied, but dries to a uniform colour.

Allow polish to dry between coats - 30 to 60 seconds, or more depending on humidity and temperature. Add 1 to 2 drops of water if polish is too thick and shake well before applying.

Do not expose nails to very hot water for long periods for the first few hours after application. Although completely dry to the touch, the polish is still curing (drying) throughout the day (or overnight if applied in the evening).

    Colour Intensity

Some of the nail polish colours are not as intense as they look in the bottle. This is partly because natural mineral pigments are used to colour the nail polish. Just apply additional thin coats to bring out a more intense colour.

    Storage

Store the polish indoors, in a cool and dry place. Do not leave polish in the car during very hot or very cold weather. Instead, store indoors at ambient temperature. Never allow polish to freeze!

    Removal of the Polish

Remove polish weekly with Suncoat Natural Nail Polish Remover Dab the remover with a cotton ball or pad so that it is well-soaked, and wipe generously over nails. Allow at least 2 minutes for the remover to penetrate and soften the polish. Then rub the nails until the polish is fully removed. One liberally soaked cotton ball is usually enough to remove polish from all of your nails as the remover liquid evaporates slowly. Repeat as necessary. Wash hands with soap and water.

Removal without Suncoat Natural Nail Polish Remover

For weak or damaged nails we recommend using Suncoat Natural Nail Polish Remover. Otherwise, soak nails in hot water for at least 2 minutes, and gently scrape off the polish using a flat-tipped wood stick or fingernails.

If polish has been on nails for more than 2 weeks, usually it is harder to take off water-based nail polish. Soak nails in hot water for 5 minutes, and then scrape off polish using a flat-tipped wood stick or fingernails.

Unlike chemical based nail polish remover, Suncoat Natural Nail Polish Remover will not dry nails. Instead, many people find it moisturising/hydrating.

    No Chemical Fumes

    Ingredients

    Application

A dry-oil consistency, one application goes a long way. Dab the remover with a cotton ball and ensure it is well soaked. Rub the cotton ball over each nail, ensuring total saturation of the remover. Allow at least 2 minutes for the remover to fully penetrate and soften the nail polish. Then rub nails with the cotton ball until the polish is fully removed. One liberally soaked cotton ball is usually enough to clean all of your nails as the liquid evaporates slowly! Repeat if necessary. Wash hands with soap and water.
